Who supports my Linux* driver?
Linux drivers are part of the upstream Linux* kernel. They're available through the regular channels, distributions, or the Linux* kernel archives. We support use of the drivers only in the kernel version the driver was a part of. See the table below for a list of supported devices by the iwlwifi driver. Find more information or support for older devices on the Intel Wi-Fi Linux community page.
Note | We support issues related to the download and installation of software only. For general questions about Intel Wi-Fi on Linux, email [email protected]. To report a bug or issue, follow the guidance on the bugs and support page. |
What firmware does my wireless device require?
The wireless device requires firmware to operate. Firmware usually ships with your distribution, or you can download from the table below. Each download provides firmware under its own license.

To install firmware:
- Copy the files into the distribution-specific firmware directory, /lib/firmware.
- If the directory doesn't work, refer to your distribution documentation.
- If you configure the kernel yourself, make sure firmware loading is enabled.
Note | This table contains only the first official firmware version released, which is only guaranteed to work with the kernel version specified in the table. To get the latest version for newer kernels, use the firmware git tree instead. |

Wifi Adapter recommendations for Pen Testing in Kali Linux
I want to get started with wifi pen testing and was looking forward to buy an external wifi adapter with my VM Kali on wimdows. After goings through hundreds of posts on Wifi Adapters for this purpose I concluded that Tp link TL-WN722N V1 was the optimal one considering the performance, cost, and support. However it is not available where I live (India,Mumbai). Any recommendations for a alternate wifi adapter for wifi Pen testing would be highly appreciated.
(Please note, my budget is $25/ Rs.2000)
